You can enter author names either last name first with a comma ("Smith, Jane") or first name first ("Jane Smith"). Multiple authors need to be listed on separate lines. Make sure you have the appropriate Reference Type selected. Here are some tips to keep in mind when manually entering a reference: The most basic way to enter a reference is by typing it in. If EndNote is not open, you will be prompted to select the library in which you want the references saved. If EndNote is open, it will recognize that your browser is sending citation data the referecnces will automatically to save it to your library. Choose "Save to EndNote" or "Export to your bibliographic software" or a similar option. Look for a Save/Export/Download option. Select the citations you want to save with an Add button or check box. Run your search as you ordinarily would. Every database works a little differently, but most databases can export to EndNote with these general steps: This is the easiest and most efficient way of adding references to your EndNote library. However this field should not be displayed for most articles and should be removed.Most of the Georgia State University Library's databases, including GIL-Find, the catalog, support the direct export function. Journal references - Type of Article: The journal reference format includes the Type of Article field for specific article types such as editorials or reviews or for articles in special issues. If you have more than 20 authors, you will need to edit your reference to replace the authors between the 19th and the last author with ellipses (.) 
Multiple authors: EndNote does not currently (7/2020) support APA 7th's approach to 20+ authors.
Glitches You May Encounter with EndNote APA 7th style: If you are using the free online version, select APA 7th as a Favorite (I nstructions) Desktop EndNote Download for APA 7th Ed: Use the style to get the rough pieces of your referencing in place, but as with all citation formatting tools, you will need to check your citations. After you have finished using EndNote to populate your references, convert to plain text and use our APA Style Guide or the APA Publication Manual to correct any mistakes.
EndNote has released a style for APA 7th Edition, however the style is still a bit buggy and needs some work.
